Effective 3 October 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Highbrow Marketing Limited (New Zealand company number 8564669) (“Sidefolk”, “we”, “us”). By creating an account or using Sidefolk on the web or in our mobile apps, you agree to them. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data.
Sidefolk is a household assistant. It turns things you give it (typed or pasted text, photos, PDFs, voice notes, emails you forward, WhatsApp and WeChat messages you send it, and, if you switch them on, emails from your Gmail and text messages on an Android phone) into draft events, tasks, notes and invoices, and keeps a calendar you can share with your household. It can read events from a Google, Microsoft or iCloud calendar you connect.
We may change, add or remove features. If we remove a feature you pay for, we will tell you in advance where we reasonably can.
You must be at least 16 (18 in India) to create an account yourself. You are responsible for keeping access to your email account and devices secure, and for what happens under your account. Tell us promptly at support@sidefolk.app if you think someone else has access to it.
You keep ownership of everything you put into Sidefolk. You give us permission to store, process and display it only as needed to run the service for you and the people you share it with.
A household owner can invite other people, including children and teenagers, and choose what each member can see. If you add or invite a child, you confirm that you are their parent or legal guardian, or have their parent or guardian’s permission, and you consent on their behalf to us processing their information as described in the Privacy Policy. You must be 16 (18 in India) to hold an account yourself. A child never has their own login: they appear only as a person you add. A teenager can be invited to a limited login. Each time you add a child or teenager we ask you to confirm you are their parent or guardian, and we keep the date and time of that confirmation.
Anything you put in a shared calendar or shared list is visible to the members you share it with. If the household owner deletes their account, the household and what is stored in it are deleted too, unless ownership has been handed to another member first.
You agree not to:
Sidefolk uses AI (Groq and Google Gemini) to read what you give it and suggest events, tasks, notes and invoices. AI makes mistakes: it can misread a date, a time, an amount or a name. Everything it suggests is a draft. Drafts that come from scanned or forwarded messages always wait for you to confirm them. In the mobile app, a clear event you capture yourself may be added straight away, with an Undo shown for at least 30 seconds; you can turn on “always ask me” to review every one.
You are responsible for checking anything you rely on, especially appointments, deadlines, payments and anything about a child’s care. Sidefolk is not a medical, legal or financial service.
Sidefolk has a free plan and paid plans. Prices are shown before you pay, in the app store or on our website, and include or exclude tax as shown there.
Auto-renewal. Paid plans renew automatically at the end of each billing period, at the then-current price, until you cancel. If a plan includes a free trial, you will be charged when the trial ends unless you cancel before then. We will tell you in advance of a price increase.
Cancelling. Cancel where you subscribed:
Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep paid features until the end of the period you have paid for, then move to the free plan. Your data stays.
Refunds. New subscribers get a 14-day free trial. After the trial you are charged, and we do not refund payments already made, except where consumer law requires it. Refunds for App Store and Google Play purchases are handled by Apple and Google under their own policies. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 (New Zealand), the Consumer Protection Act 2019 (India) or other consumer law that cannot be excluded.
When you connect Gmail, a calendar, WhatsApp, WeChat or text-message scanning, you authorise us to access that account only for the features you switch on. You can disconnect at any time, in Sidefolk or in that provider’s settings. Those services are run by other companies under their own terms, and we are not responsible for them.
You can delete your account at any time from your account settings. Your account is closed straight away and permanently deleted after a 30-day grace period, during which you can restore it. Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription; cancel that in the store as well.
We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, or where the law requires it. Where we reasonably can, we will warn you first and give you a chance to export your data.
We work to keep Sidefolk available and your data safe, but the service is provided “as is” and may sometimes be unavailable, slow or wrong. Keep your own record of anything critical.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, such as a missed appointment, lost profit or lost data, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or NZ$100 if you have paid nothing. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.
What you put into Sidefolk stays yours. You give us a licence to store, process and display it, and to send it to the service providers listed in our Privacy Policy, only as needed to run Sidefolk for you and your household. The licence ends when the content is deleted, apart from backups that expire on their own schedule. You are responsible for what you add, and you confirm you have the right to add it, including other people’s information. Sidefolk, its software, design and name belong to us or our licensors; you get a personal, non-transferable right to use it under these terms.
Sidefolk is an organising tool. It is not an emergency, safety, medical, legal, financial or tax service, and AI drafts or reminders are not advice. Do not rely on it alone for anything where a missed or wrong entry could cause harm. Links to and integrations with other companies’ services are used at your own risk and are governed by their terms.
If something goes wrong, email support@sidefolk.app first and give us 20 working days to put it right. If we cannot settle it, the Governing law section applies. Nothing here stops you contacting a regulator, such as the Commerce Commission or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner, or using any consumer-dispute process available to you.
We may transfer these terms to a company that takes over Sidefolk, and will tell you if we do; you may not transfer your account to someone else. If part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. Not enforcing a term straight away does not waive it. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about Sidefolk. We are not responsible for delay or failure caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as outages of internet, cloud or app-store services. We will send notices to the email on your account or show them in the app.
If we make a material change, we will update the effective date and tell you in the app or by email at least 30 days before it applies. If you keep using Sidefolk after that, the new terms apply. If you do not agree, you can cancel and delete your account.
These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, and disputes go to the courts of Auckland, New Zealand. If you are a consumer, you also keep any protection given by the law of the country you live in.
